Veterans Stand Down – August 27, 2024
On August 23rd the Chinle Agency Navajo Nation Veterans Administration presented a Veterans Stand Down event in Chinle, AZ under a big tent for Homeless Veterans. Resources, entertainment, and free food were provided.
The night before the event it rained. With the ground soaking wet and it was difficult to set up our small tent outside the big tent. The ground was muddy with standing water everywhere. Despite those conditions, the Navajo Veterans Organization set up and participated in the event.
We gave out tents, sleeping bags, lunch cooler boxes, blankets, fishing tackings, chairs, and a basket full of canned food, hygiene products, crossword puzzles, and sodoku to homeless veterans. A total of 72 veterans came to our booth.
